Dhan (www.dhan.co), one of India’s fastest-growing investing and trading platforms, has introduced Stock Lending & Borrowing Mechanism (SLBM) — a fully digital feature that allows investors to earn passive income by lending their idle stocks and ETFs without selling them. This exchange-driven, clearing corporation-backed facility marks the first digital implementation of SLBM by a discount broker in India.

Through this mechanism, investors can earn rental income ranging between 6% and 24% annually, depending on demand and liquidity. “With stock renting via SLBM, we’re enabling investors to generate an additional income stream while maintaining ownership and ensuring transparency,” said Pravin Jadhav, Founder & CEO, Dhan.

The feature, available on Dhan’s app and web platform, offers a simple, regulated, and seamless experience for long-term investors and active traders alike. Users can now benefit from both capital appreciation and rental yields on their portfolios.

Since its launch in 2021, Dhan has rolled out several innovation-led features, including Instant Pledge & Unpledge, Super Orders, Instant Withdrawals, and Mutual Funds in demat format, building a community of nearly one million active users across India.
