Tata Advanced Systems has received a supply order from the Indian Army to support the overhaul and upgradation of in-service first-generation Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) and Battery Command Posts (BCPs). The order will be executed in partnership with the Army’s 510 Advance Base Workshop (ABW).
The supply order was formally handed over to Tata Advanced Systems during a ceremony held in New Delhi, marking a significant public–private collaboration aimed at enhancing the operational readiness of one of the Army’s key artillery platforms.
As part of the programme, Tata Advanced Systems will provide certified spares, technical expertise, and quality assurance, while working closely with original equipment manufacturers. In the initial phase, a pilot overhaul of selected Pinaka MLRS and BCPs will be jointly undertaken by Tata Advanced Systems and 510 ABW. Subsequently, the remaining systems will be overhauled by 510 ABW, with continued technical and logistical support from Tata Advanced Systems.
Developed in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Pinaka MLRS is an all-weather artillery system designed to deliver high-volume firepower against critical targets. Tata Advanced Systems has achieved close to 80% indigenous content in the system, underscoring India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
The company has already supplied a significant number of Pinaka systems currently deployed with the Indian Army, further strengthening its position in the land combat systems domain.
