Trontek has announced plans to create more than 500 new jobs by FY27 as demand for lithium-ion batteries accelerates across India’s electric mobility and energy storage sectors. The hiring initiative will expand the company’s workforce from 967 to nearly 1,400 employees, marking one of the largest recruitment phases in the company’s two-decade journey.
The new roles will be primarily focused on manufacturing, battery engineering, research and development, quality systems, logistics and service operations. The expansion comes as lithium-ion adoption gains momentum across electric two- and three-wheelers, rooftop solar installations and distributed energy storage solutions—segments that are increasingly shaping India’s clean energy transition.
“India’s battery ecosystem is entering a structurally strong growth phase,” said Samrath S. Kochar, Founder and CEO of Trontek. “As demand grows across electric mobility and home energy solutions, the real competitive edge will come from strong engineering capabilities and resilient manufacturing. Our expansion reflects our long-term commitment to building both scale and technological capability.”
A significant portion of the hiring will strengthen Trontek’s in-house R&D functions. The company plans to expand work in battery management systems (BMS), thermal safety engineering, lifecycle optimisation and product validation tailored to Indian operating conditions. These areas are becoming critical as battery reliability, safety and performance consistency gain importance in the next phase of lithium adoption.
“Battery innovation today goes far beyond chemistry,” Kochar added. “It requires intelligent system design, robust safety architecture and strong lifecycle performance. We are investing in R&D to develop locally engineered solutions that can compete on a global scale.”
In addition, Trontek will introduce structured technical training programmes focused on lithium-ion assembly, safety compliance, electronics integration and energy storage technologies. The initiative aims to build specialised skills and support India’s growing advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
With this expansion, Trontek aims to strengthen domestic battery manufacturing, improve supply-chain resilience and contribute to job creation in India’s rapidly evolving clean technology sector.
