Tata Steel has significantly expanded its strategic collaboration with Google Cloud to advance a unified, enterprise-wide agentic AI ecosystem. This initiative marks a major step in redefining industrial operations, with Tata Steel deploying over 300 specialised AI agents across its global value chain within just nine months.
The transformation is powered by a consolidated data architecture that integrates structured and unstructured data, enabling real-time decision-making and operational agility. Central to this ecosystem are platforms like Zen AI, a low-code environment empowering employees to build AI solutions, and the Tata Steel Digital Assistant (TDA), which acts as a unified command center for enterprise intelligence.
Jayanta Banerjee, Chief Information Officer, Tata Steel, said: “Our collaboration with Google Cloud has transformed AI into a real-time execution engine for employees. From predictive maintenance to faster customer response, agentic AI is simplifying complexity and enabling precision at scale.”
The deployment is also enhancing operational efficiency by automating routine processes such as invoice management, contract analysis, and HR workflows, with over 70% of employee queries resolved autonomously. On the manufacturing front, AI-powered systems like Safety EyeQ are improving workplace safety through real-time monitoring and proactive alerts.
Sashi Sreedharan, Managing Director, Google Cloud India, added: “Tata Steel’s rapid AI adoption sets a new benchmark for industrial transformation. Their unified approach demonstrates how data and AI together can unlock a powerful competitive advantage.”
Built on scalable infrastructure like Google Cloud Run and leveraging advanced models such as Gemini, the partnership positions Tata Steel at the forefront of AI-led industrial innovation, driving efficiency, safety, and smarter decision-making across its global operations.
