In today’s fast-moving, screen-led world, many families are spending more time together, yet feeling less connected than ever before. Between notifications, busy schedules and digital distractions, simple moments of interaction that once shaped childhood are slowly disappearing. Yet, research continues to show that the early years play a defining role in a child’s emotional, social, cognitive and language development. Recognising the growing need to help parents create more intentional and meaningful everyday interactions with their children, Homework for Life (https://homeworkforlife.in/) has been launched as a simple, accessible parenting initiative focused on early childhood development.

An initiative by Mother’s Pet Kindergarten, Homework for Life builds on the institution’s longstanding commitment to pioneering progressive early childhood education practices in Nagpur. Over the years, Mother’s Pet Kindergarten has consistently introduced globally recognised approaches and child-centric learning philosophies designed around the developmental needs of young learners. Inspired by internationally respected developmental research frameworks, including insights from Harvard’s Center on the Developing Child and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Homework for Life translates scientific principles into practical, everyday parenting moments that families can easily adopt at home.

Homework for Life has been designed as a free-to-access digital platform available through a mobile-friendly website and WhatsApp updates, making it simple for parents to engage consistently with their child’s development. Through age-based pathways for expecting parents, toddlers and preschoolers, the platform shares over 100 thoughtfully designed screen-light activities and everyday parenting tasks for each category, focused on language, emotional bonding, creativity, movement and mindful family interactions. As one of the first initiatives of its kind in Nagpur, Homework for Life aims to support parents not with pressure or perfection, but with small, meaningful actions that help build stronger emotional connections and more mindful home environments during a child’s defining early years.

Speaking about the initiative, Sadashiv Nayak, CEO – K-12 Lighthouse Learning Group said: “Children may not remember every toy or every activity, but they always remember how connected and emotionally secure they felt growing up. Homework for Life is built on the belief that meaningful parenting does not always require more time, but more intentional moments. Through this initiative, we hope to build a platform where families can rediscover the value of simple everyday interactions that shape a child’s confidence, emotional wellbeing and lifelong learning.”
