Aarthi Scans & Labs and Origin Medical Research Lab India Private Limited, the research and development arm of Origin Medical, are advancing the quality and accessibility of prenatal ultrasound care through an ongoing collaboration focused on artificial intelligence.

Over the past five years, the organisations have worked together to develop and validate AI solutions for maternal-fetal imaging in high-volume clinical settings. The collaboration covers automated image capture, anatomical landmark detection, real-time image quality assessment and fetal biometry, with the aim of improving workflow efficiency, reducing variability and supporting more standardised prenatal assessments.

Dr. Arunkumar Govindarajan, Radiologist and Executive Director, Aarthi Scans & Labs, said, “Our collaboration with Origin Medical Research Lab is focused on developing clinically validated AI solutions that support radiologists and fetal medicine specialists in delivering more standardised and accurate prenatal assessments. Responsible integration of AI into prenatal imaging can help improve access to high-quality maternal healthcare, particularly as demand for prenatal diagnostics continues to grow in India.”

The AI systems developed through the collaboration provide automated image capture and feedback capabilities, helping clinical teams complete anatomical surveys more efficiently. Real-time image-quality and view-completeness checks provide immediate feedback, while automated fetal measurement tools aim to improve consistency in fetal biometry and reduce variability across centres.

Research outcomes from the collaboration, along with other clinical and research partners, have been presented at international forums including the ISUOG World Congress and the Fetal Medicine Foundation World Congress.

Sripad Krishna Devalla, Co-founder and CEO, Origin Medical, said, “Aarthi Scans & Labs has been a foundational partner from day one. Their clinical rigour, scale and commitment to innovation have been central to our progress in AI-driven prenatal imaging. The science developed through this collaboration continues to shape technologies being introduced in prenatal care settings globally.”

The collaboration supports a broader vision of making affordable, accessible and standardised prenatal care available across India.
