Montra Electric, India’s full-spectrum electric commercial vehicle brand, has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) to support the replacement of ageing commercial vehicles in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The MoUs were signed separately by Montra Electric’s electric medium and heavy commercial vehicle (e-MHCV) and electric small commercial vehicle (e-SCV) businesses in New Delhi. The agreements are part of the Government of India’s scheme supporting the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) policy for the replacement of old trucks and buses operating in the region.

The initiative aims to facilitate the transition from ageing and polluting commercial vehicles to cleaner alternatives. The adoption of electric commercial vehicles is expected to contribute towards improving air quality by reducing vehicular emissions while supporting India’s broader decarbonisation goals.

Under the initiative, both Montra Electric businesses will support eligible fleet operators and customers with electric commercial vehicle solutions, helping accelerate the shift towards cleaner and more sustainable freight transportation across Delhi-NCR.

Montra Electric offers purpose-built electric mobility solutions across multiple commercial vehicle segments. Its portfolio includes the Rhino series of medium and heavy-duty electric trucks and EVIATOR small commercial electric trucks, catering to the evolving operational requirements of fleet owners and logistics businesses.

The vehicle replacement initiative is expected to support the reduction of emissions from legacy internal combustion engine commercial vehicles operating in Delhi-NCR. It also seeks to create an enabling ecosystem for faster adoption of electric trucks and buses.

Through the MoUs, Montra Electric aims to contribute to fleet modernisation and support the transition towards cleaner commercial transportation in the National Capital Region.
