New 654g lens combines 100-400mm versatility, advanced optics and fast autofocus
Sony India today announced the launch of the FE 100-400mm F5.6-8 OSS, expanding its full-frame Alpha E-mount lens lineup. Designed for wildlife enthusiasts, travellers and creators, the new lens combines a compact, lightweight design with advanced optics, fast autofocus and optical image stabilisation.
Weighing 654 grams and measuring 165.5mm in length, the lens offers a versatile 100-400mm focal range. With an optional teleconverter, users can extend its reach up to 800mm, making it suitable for wildlife, sports, travel and other subjects requiring greater reach.
The lens features two ED glass elements and two aspherical elements to deliver high resolution and contrast across the frame. A nine-blade circular aperture helps create smooth bokeh, while a maximum magnification of 0.41x and minimum focusing distance of 0.86m support close-up photography.
Dual linear motors enable fast, precise and quiet autofocus for tracking moving subjects. Built-in optical image stabilisation further supports handheld shooting at longer focal lengths.
Designed for outdoor use, the lens features a focus hold button, focus-mode/range switch and zoom lock switch. Its dust- and moisture-resistant design provides added reliability in challenging conditions.
As part of Sony’s Road to Zero initiative, more than 41% of the total plastic weight used in the lens is recycled.
The FE 100-400mm F5.6-8 OSS is available across Sony Centres, authorised dealers, major electronics stores and e-commerce platforms from August 20, 2026, at an MRP of ₹94,990.
