Air India today announced two major developments with Boeing at Wings India 2026 in Hyderabad—placing an order for 30 additional Boeing 737 aircraft and signing a multi-year Component Services Program (CSP) agreement with Boeing Global Services to support its entire Boeing 787 fleet. Together, these initiatives reinforce Air India’s fleet modernisation and operational reliability as it scales domestic and international operations.
The airline has ordered 20 Boeing 737-8 and 10 Boeing 737-10 aircraft, taking its total firm orders with Boeing to 250 aircraft. This builds on the 220 aircraft ordered in 2023 and supports Air India’s long-term single-aisle growth strategy. The new 737 aircraft will strengthen connectivity across India and the South Asia region while improving fuel efficiency and capacity planning.
With this latest order, Air India has a total of 198 new aircraft incoming from Boeing. To date, the airline has received 52 aircraft from its original Boeing order, including 51 737-8 aircraft operating with Air India Express and one Boeing 787-9 that will commence commercial service between Mumbai and Frankfurt from 1 February 2026.
In parallel, Air India signed a multi-year agreement with Boeing Global Services for the Component Services Program covering its entire Boeing 787 fleet, including aircraft in service and those on order. The program provides end-to-end component management tailored to the operational needs of Air India’s growing Dreamliner fleet. It includes component pooling for faster replacements, repair and overhaul through Boeing-approved facilities, and global logistics support for timely parts availability.
The pooled approach will give Air India access to a shared pool of high-value, dispatch-critical components, helping reduce aircraft downtime and improve cost predictability while maintaining high reliability across long-haul operations.
