Speaking at Reliance Industries’ Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Limited said Reliance’s consumer businesses is preparing for another major growth phase, with advanced manufacturing and exports set to become two important platforms for its next leap.

Ambani said Reliance Retail and Reliance Consumer Products Limited together will add two powerful growth-boosting platforms — an advanced manufacturing platform and an exports platform.

The advanced manufacturing platform will cover categories such as beverages, daily essentials, fresh fruits and vegetables, garments and affordable electronics. A major focus area will be fresh produce, one of India’s most unorganised categories.

Ambani said the fresh fruits and vegetables category urgently needs waste reduction, better hygiene and higher safety standards. Reliance plans to modernise this space by bringing its sourcing, cold-chain and distribution strength to fresh produce.

This could have a direct impact on farmers, shopkeepers and households. Ambani said the platform will give “farmers fairer returns, shopkeepers dependable supply, and every family fresher food at fairer prices.”

The company is also building a future-ready garment manufacturing ecosystem to deliver better-quality garments to customers at competitive costs. Reliance has created supplier partnerships in 21 pan-India clusters where these garments will be manufactured.

Affordable electronics will be another focus area. Ambani said Reliance will work on products ranging from smart eyewear to televisions, smartphones and connected wearables, with continued focus on superior customer service.

The second growth platform is exports. Ambani said the exports platform is a logical extension of Reliance’s manufacturing platform in retail. He said the rapid growth of Reliance’s consumer brands business in India has given the company confidence to build a strong and scalable global FMCG business.

The export push, he said, reflects the growing strength of Reliance’s brands, its competitive product portfolio and its ability to serve diverse consumer needs across global markets.

For regional markets, the significance of Ambani’s comments lies in the wider economic impact of the plan. The manufacturing push is not limited to large factories or corporate growth. It also connects directly with farmers, small suppliers, garment clusters, electronics manufacturing and everyday households.

The message from the AGM was clear: Reliance’s consumer business is looking beyond retail stores and digital commerce. Through manufacturing and exports, it aims to build a stronger supply chain, support Indian producers, offer better value to consumers and take Indian consumer brands to global markets.
