Mr. Hemen Bhatia brings more than two decades of experience in the Indian asset management industry, with deep expertise in ETFs and passive investment solutions. Prior to joining Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC, he served as Executive Director and CEO of Angel One AMC, where he played a pivotal role in building and expanding the company’s passive asset management business. Earlier, as Head of ETF Business at Nippon Life India AMC, he was instrumental in driving the growth and scale of its passive investment offerings.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Bhatia has been closely associated with several landmark developments in India’s ETF ecosystem. He was part of the founding team at Benchmark AMC, the first asset management company to introduce ETFs in India, and later contributed to the successful launch of the CPSE ETF at Goldman Sachs AMC, a flagship Government of India disinvestment initiative.

He has also actively contributed to the development of the broader passive investing landscape through his participation in industry and regulatory forums, including AMFI’s ETF Committee and SEBI’s working group on the Mutual Fund Lite (MF Lite) framework for passive schemes.

In his new role, Mr. Bhatia will lead the strategic direction and growth of Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC’s passive investments business, with a focus on expanding ETF and index fund offerings, enhancing market participation, and strengthening engagement across institutional and retail investors. He holds a Master of Management Studies (Finance) degree from the University of Mumbai.
