Godrej Enterprises Group’s Tooling business is strengthening its advanced engineering and manufacturing capabilities to meet the evolving needs of India’s automotive industry, as manufacturers increasingly focus on localisation, next-generation mobility platforms and advanced production technologies.

With over 85% of its tooling business catering to the automotive sector, the company partners with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers across passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles and electric vehicle platforms. Today, 95% of the tooling supplied to its automotive customers is manufactured locally, underscoring the growing strength of India’s domestic tooling ecosystem.

Backed by government initiatives such as Make in India and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, manufacturers are accelerating efforts to localise supply chains and reduce import dependence. Godrej Enterprises Group supports this transition through a portfolio of precision-engineered solutions, including press tools, die-casting dies and advanced tooling systems that enhance productivity, quality and manufacturing efficiency. The business also serves sectors such as railways, metro infrastructure, defence and industrial machinery.

Pankaj Abhyankar, Business Head – Tooling, Godrej Enterprises Group, said, “India’s automotive industry is evolving rapidly, driven by localisation, changing mobility technologies, and the need for greater manufacturing agility. As vehicle architectures become more advanced, tooling is playing an increasingly important role in enabling precision, productivity, quality, and faster product development cycles. Our focus remains on building advanced engineering and manufacturing capabilities that help customers meet these evolving requirements while supporting India’s manufacturing ambitions.”

To address emerging industry requirements, the company is expanding the use of digital simulations, additive manufacturing, IoT-enabled monitoring systems and large-tonnage die capabilities, alongside technologies such as vacuum-assisted systems, thermo-regulation, squeeze casting and conformal cooling. With growing investments across automotive, infrastructure and defence manufacturing, Godrej Enterprises Group remains focused on strengthening indigenous tooling capabilities and supporting India’s emergence as a globally competitive manufacturing hub.
