NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has partnered with Sri Lanka’s PickMe to offer exclusive benefits to Indian travelers using the platform.
Under the initiative, Indian tourists can avail a flat 20% discount, up to LKR 750, on every PickMe ride when they pay through UPI.
PickMe, Sri Lanka’s largest ride-hailing platform, serves more than 1.9 million unique users and provides mobility services across major cities, tourist destinations and airport transfers.
The initiative is aimed at making everyday travel more convenient for Indian tourists while encouraging wider adoption of UPI for payments in Sri Lanka. Travelers can pay directly from their Indian bank accounts through eligible UPI-enabled applications, reducing the need to carry cash or exchange currency.
To use UPI in Sri Lanka, travelers need to activate UPI Global/UPI International for an eligible bank account through their UPI-enabled application.
India remains Sri Lanka’s largest tourism source market, with more than 531,000 Indian tourists visiting the country in 2025. UPI is accepted across tourist attractions, pilgrimage sites, shopping centres, transport services, restaurants and other merchants accepting LankaQR.
The collaboration further strengthens digital payment connectivity between India and Sri Lanka while adding convenience and value to the travel experience.
