New FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS and FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS combine lightweight design, high resolution and fast autofocus

Sony India has announced two new G Master™ super-telephoto prime lenses for its Alpha™ full-frame E-mount system – the FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS and FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS. Weighing approximately 994g and 995g respectively, both lenses are the world’s lightest in their categories.

Designed for wildlife, bird and sports photography, the lenses combine portability with excellent handling for handheld shooting. They feature advanced optical elements, Nano AR Coating II, an 11-blade circular aperture and optical image stabilisation.

The lenses also feature two XD Linear Motors for fast, precise and quiet autofocus, supporting tracking of fast-moving subjects and continuous shooting at up to 120 fps with AF/AE tracking on the Alpha 9 III.

“Sony has always been committed to pushing the boundaries of imaging technology while understanding the evolving needs of photographers. With the new FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS and FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS, we are taking this a step further by making long telephoto reach more accessible in a lightweight form. At under 1 kg, these lenses bring 400mm and 600mm focal lengths into a form factor that photographers can realistically carry, handle and shoot with in the field. For wildlife, bird and sports photographers, this can make a real difference to how they approach and capture a shot.”—Mukesh Srivastava, Head of Imaging & Professional Solutions

The lenses are available across Sony Centers, Alpha Flagship stores, authorised dealers, major electronic stores and leading e-commerce platforms from September 24, 2026. The FE 400mm F4.5 GM OSS is priced at ₹3,10,990, while the FE 600mm F6.3 GM OSS is priced at ₹4,28,990.
