Fashion buyers grow 63% year-on-year, led by Gen Z; 82% of orders come from outside metros
Snapdeal’s Swagotsav Sale, which began on October 4, has recorded a 59% year-on-year increase in fashion units sold, while the number of fashion buyers grew 63% compared with the same period last year.
Gen Z shoppers are leading the growth, with strong demand for both contemporary Western styles and traditional festive wear.
Western and Ethnic Wear See Strong Demand
Sales of women’s Western wear, including co-ord sets, T-shirts, jeans and night suits, doubled during the period. Women’s salwar suits also recorded a twofold increase, reflecting demand for both trend-led styles and traditional outfits for festive occasions.
The growth highlights the increasing preference among younger consumers for affordable fashion that allows them to express their personal style.
Smaller Cities Drive Growth
Orders from outside metros accounted for 82% of the total during the sale, underlining Snapdeal’s reach among value-conscious shoppers across Bharat.
The seller ecosystem also recorded strong growth, with active transacting fashion sellers increasing 94% year-on-year. New sellers from smaller cities registered triple-digit growth, with Bhilwara, Meerut, Hosur, Kota, Amroha, Alwar and Solapur among the cities contributing to the momentum.
Prepaid orders doubled during the sale period, adding to the overall growth in fashion sales and customer participation.
Supporting Sellers Ahead of the Festive Season
Ahead of the festive season, Snapdeal has been working with sellers through Project Gati, a 45-day acceleration programme designed to help first-time sellers prepare for increased demand. The initiative offers training, AI upgradation, free advertising credits, assortment-related analytics and shorter working capital cycles.
Achint Setia, CEO of Snapdeal, said: “Gen Z is increasingly buying looks, rather than simply buying clothes for their functional value. From Western wear to ethnicwear and accessories, shoppers are exploring styles that reflect their personality and the occasion. We have organised Swagotsav around this shift, bringing together affordable, trend-led choices that help consumers create their festive looks without stretching their budgets.”
