Hexaware Technologies [NSE: HEXT] has announced the acquisition of SMC Squared, a Bengaluru-based specialist in building and managing Global Capability Centers (GCCs), marking a strategic leap in Hexaware’s bid to redefine how enterprises scale global operations.

This move coincides with Hexaware’s formal launch of its new GCC 2.0 service line, designed to provide end-to-end solutions that combine AI-led transformation, talent optimization, and high-performance delivery across critical business functions. The acquisition deepens Hexaware’s position in a market expected to surpass $100 billion in India alone by 2030, according to a Nasscom-Zinnov forecast.

Unlike traditional outsourcing models, Hexaware’s GCC 2.0 approach focuses on building strategic extensions of enterprise teams — blending digital agents, AI innovation, and human expertise in a tightly integrated governance framework.

Enterprises no longer want just offshore teams or infrastructure. “Our clients are increasingly looking for GCC partners who bring more than staffing or infrastructure,” said Amrinder Singh, President & Head – EMEA & APAC Operations, Hexaware. “With SMC Squared, we gain proven governance, delivery credibility, and scale in areas where execution strength is non-negotiable. This acquisition enables us to deliver long-term value to enterprises, leveraging our human and digital agent-driven model and proprietary IT delivery platforms

SMC Squared’s proven engagement models, including Build-Optimize-Transfer (BOT) and managed services, give Hexaware a ready platform to support global clients in finance, HR, infrastructure, employee well-being, and technology modernization. The company currently partners with marquee clients like Papa John’s, delivering fully integrated GCC teams aligned with strategic digital goals.

FPatricia Connolly, CEO of SMC Squared, “For over a decade, we’ve helped shape the GCC industry, and this acquisition expands what we can deliver globally with strengthened capabilities across AI, analytics, modernization, cloud transformation, and enterprise platforms while growing our delivery footprint with new centers in Latin America and increasing client activity in the UK and Europe.”

SMC Squared’s clients include leading global brands in commerce, healthcare, financial services, and consumer tech — all sectors with rising demand for flexible, AI-enabled global teams.

Client testimonials reinforce the model’s success. “Partnering with SMC to build our dedicated GCC team has been a transformative experience. Our GCC team is fully integrated, aligned with our strategic vision, and focused on delivering real business value,” said Michael Wyant, Vice President of Corporate Systems & Enterprise Data, Papa Johns.

With the acquisition, Hexaware now offers a comprehensive GCC services stack — covering advisory, setup, optimization, and operations — anchored by deep delivery capabilities and strategic alignment with enterprise goals.

The acquisition comes at a time when the GCC landscape is evolving from cost-focused support hubs to value-generating innovation centers, driven by AI, cloud transformation, and the need for enterprise agility.
