Air India has unveiled its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, marking a key milestone in the airline’s ongoing transformation and focus on premium customer experience.
Spread across 16,000 square feet at the international pier, the lounge is designed to host nearly 300 guests across an expansive Business Class area and an exclusive First Class section. Reflecting Air India’s refreshed brand identity, the space blends refined luxury with subtle cultural elements, offering travellers a calm yet sophisticated pre-flight environment.
Designed by global hospitality design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates, the lounge features curated artwork, ambient lighting, and contemporary furnishings inspired by India’s heritage. The layout is divided into thoughtfully crafted zones that cater to relaxation, work, and social interaction, allowing guests to choose spaces that suit their travel needs.
Signature areas include the Aviator’s Bar, inspired by Air India’s historic early flights, and the Globetrotter’s Study, a quiet corner for reading or working, complete with books, charging points, and high-speed connectivity. Guests seeking rest can unwind in the Serenity Area, while First Class travellers can access private sleep suites for pre-departure relaxation. The Crystal Bar, reserved for First Class guests, offers premium beverages in an elegant setting, alongside panoramic views of the tarmac.
Dining at the Maharaja Lounge features a wide selection of Indian and international cuisine, live cooking stations, a bespoke cocktail service, and a dedicated tea programme celebrating India’s tea culture. Thoughtful touches such as collectible postcards further enhance the experience.
The lounge will open progressively to eligible passengers from February 16, 2026, reinforcing Air India’s ambition to elevate airport hospitality across its global network.
Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Air India, said: “The Maharaja Lounge at Delhi airport is a significant milestone in our transformation journey. It is a tangible and proud representation of the ‘New Air India Experience’. We endeavour to set a benchmark in aviation hospitality, and this is just the beginning. Our strategic expansion plans include substantial investments to build more such platforms across countries that we fly to that will redefine luxury and comfort for our guests.”
