The ASME Engineering Education Seminar & Workshop on Drone Technology was held at REVA University under the Mechanical Engineering Education Summit (MEEd). Organised by ASME Foundation India, the programme focused on aligning engineering education with real-world drone applications, regulatory frameworks, and industry requirements.

The seminar highlighted drone technology as a multidisciplinary system integrating mechanical design, electronics, simulation, and digital intelligence. Experts emphasized that industry now requires engineers who combine technical depth with practical exposure and business awareness to build scalable UAV solutions across defence, agriculture, logistics, and infrastructure sectors.

Mr. Madhukar Sharma, President and Director, ASME India Private Limited, noted that platforms such as MEEd and IMECE help keep engineering education aligned with current industry practice. He also referenced India’s growing role in the global engineering ecosystem and the upcoming IMECE India in Chennai.

Ms. Avni Malhotra, Deputy Director, ASME Foundation India, stressed the importance of application-driven learning to ensure technology delivers measurable impact. Dr. KS Narayana Swamy, Pro Vice Chancellor, REVA University, underlined the need for problem-solving ability, adaptability, and industry engagement.

Industry leaders from General Aeronautics, Enord, NAL, and ideaForge shared insights on UAV design, certification, deployment, and regulatory challenges. Academic experts discussed curriculum alignment and experiential learning.

Hands-on workshops covered ANSYS-based drone simulation, autonomous system workflows by MathWorks, and physics-informed machine learning applications in UAVs. The seminar concluded with discussions on strengthening academia-industry collaboration to build future-ready engineers in India’s expanding drone ecosystem.
