Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited (MIPCL), a joint venture between Mahindra World City Developers Limited and Sumitomo Corporation, has announced that YKK India Private Limited will establish a new manufacturing facility at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai.

According to YKK India, the proposed facility will be its third manufacturing plant in India and will span nearly 149,936 square metres. The company plans to invest USD 150 million in the project, which is expected to be completed by February 2028.

YKK India, a leading manufacturer of fastening products serving the apparel, textile and industrial sectors, will leverage the industrial cluster’s infrastructure and connectivity to support both domestic and export markets. The upcoming facility will incorporate advanced manufacturing technologies and benefit from the integrated ecosystem available at Origins by Mahindra.

With YKK India joining established global manufacturers such as Mitsubishi Electric, Yanmar and Omron, Origins by Mahindra continues to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for international manufacturing investments.

Commenting on the development, Vikram Goel, Chief Business Officer – Industrial, Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited, said, “We are delighted to welcome YKK India to Origins by Mahindra, Chennai. Their decision to establish a large-scale manufacturing facility here reflects the growing appeal of India as a global manufacturing destination. As companies expand their operations to serve both domestic and international markets, they increasingly seek locations that offer scalability, efficient infrastructure and long-term growth opportunities. YKK India’s investment further reinforces the strength of our industrial ecosystem and our commitment to supporting high-quality manufacturing growth in the country.”

Strategically located on NH16, Origins by Mahindra, Chennai benefits from its proximity to the Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and the Chennai–Visakhapatnam Industrial Corridor, offering seamless access to key ports, logistics networks and industrial hubs.
