Digital Green India has announced that its AI-powered farming assistant, FarmerChat, has crossed 10 lakh users across India since its launch in October 2024. The milestone coincides with the launch of FarmerChat 2.0, an upgraded version designed to deliver personalised and hyperlocal farming advice to millions of farmers and extension workers.
Available in five languages, FarmerChat provides guidance on crop planning, pest and disease management, livestock care, weather forecasts and farm inputs. The platform allows users to interact through voice, photographs and text, making it accessible even in areas with limited internet connectivity.
Since its launch, FarmerChat has answered more than 30 lakh queries, with women accounting for nearly 45 per cent of its users. According to an independent study by 60 Decibels, around 60 per cent of active users have implemented the advice received, while 91 per cent reported greater confidence in their farming decisions.
FarmerChat 2.0 incorporates feedback from farmers who increasingly preferred speaking to the assistant or sharing photographs instead of typing queries. The latest version introduces advisory cards and personalised recommendations based on crop type, location, season and previous interactions.
Commenting on the development, Nidhi Bhasin, CEO, Digital Green India, said, “Everything in FarmerChat 2.0 came from listening to farmers. Through millions of interactions, they shared that they wanted advice suited to their crop, their season and their language, delivered the way they naturally communicate.”
She added, “The next step is the Agricultural AI Harness, an ecosystem foundation where trusted services for advisory, weather, markets and schemes come together in one place for every farmer.”
