Advanced molecular diagnostics solution enables rapid, high-accuracy biomarker detection for precision oncology

Agilus Diagnostics has launched the automated Idylla molecular diagnostics system at its Goregaon laboratory in Mumbai, enabling rapid detection of cancer-related genetic mutations within 2.5 to 3 hours. The launch marks a significant advancement in accelerating clinical decision-making and expanding access to precision oncology in India.

The Idylla system is a fully integrated, cartridge-based molecular testing platform that combines sample processing, nucleic acid extraction, amplification and detection into a single automated workflow. By minimizing manual intervention and pre-analytical variability, the system delivers highly accurate and reproducible results in a significantly shorter timeframe compared to conventional molecular testing methods, which can take several days.

This capability is particularly critical in oncology, where timely identification of actionable biomarkers plays a decisive role in guiding targeted therapies. The platform enables rapid detection of clinically relevant mutations, including:

  • EGFR – commonly associated with lung cancer in Indian and Asian populations
  • KRAS and NRAS – key markers in colorectal and pancreatic cancers
  • BRAF – present across multiple tumor types, including melanoma and colorectal cancer

Additionally, the system supports detection of emerging biomarkers such as MSI (Microsatellite Instability) and IDH1/IDH2, which are increasingly important in determining eligibility for advanced targeted and immunotherapies.

Commenting on the launch, Dr. Anand K, MD & CEO, Agilus Diagnostics, said, “The future of oncology lies not just in advanced therapies, but in the ability to deliver fast, accurate diagnoses that can guide treatment decisions in real time. The introduction of the Idylla system at our Goregaon facility significantly enhances our molecular diagnostics capabilities and strengthens our commitment to precision medicine. By enabling rapid access to critical genomic insights, we aim to empower clinicians with timely, actionable information that can improve treatment outcomes and expand access to quality cancer care.”

Dr. Kunal Sharma, Vice President and Head – Integrated Onco-Pathology, Agilus Diagnostics, added, “Delivering actionable molecular insights within hours can significantly impact cancer care. The Idylla platform enables rapid detection of key mutations such as EGFR, KRAS, NRAS and BRAF with minimal manual intervention and high analytical performance. This is especially valuable in scenarios where time is critical and tissue samples are limited. With this launch, we continue to strengthen our commitment to providing cutting-edge, high-quality precision diagnostics.”

With this addition, Agilus Diagnostics further enhances its integrated oncology diagnostics ecosystem, enabling faster, more efficient biomarker-driven treatment pathways and improved access to advanced cancer care.
