Uber has introduced a new set of safety features, including Record My Ride and Ambulance Assistance, as part of its efforts to strengthen safety and emergency support for riders and drivers.

Record My Ride allows drivers to securely record encrypted in-cab video during trips using their phones through the Uber app. The recordings remain encrypted and can only be accessed when a driver chooses to submit them as part of a safety report.

Uber has also partnered with medical logistics provider Dial 4242 to offer Ambulance Assistance. Available through Uber’s 24×7 Safety Line, the feature enables riders and drivers to request medical support following an accident during a trip.

The company has also introduced Don’t Type & Drive, which restricts manual typing in the driver app while the vehicle is moving, and Set Your Own PIN, allowing riders to customise and mandate a unique PIN for trip verification.

Sooraj Nair, Head – Safety Operations, Uber India & South Asia, said, “What feels innovative today becomes expected tomorrow. That’s exactly how safety should evolve. Our belief is simple: safety innovation should become the industry’s baseline, not remain a differentiator.”

The new features add to Uber’s existing safety measures, including RideCheck, Audio Recording, Women Rider Preference, Helmet Selfie Verification, Seatbelt Reminders, Safety Preferences and phone and address anonymisation.
