  • Nationwide social-first awareness initiative led by Namita Thapar
  • Campaign uses expert-led, 30-second videos to promote science-backed obesity awareness
  • Initiative aims to encourage healthier lifestyle choices amid India’s growing obesity burden
  • Raise awareness through education amongst school children across India
  • The initiative will culminate into an annual conference and awards program

With obesity emerging as one of India’s biggest public health challenges, Namita Thapar is launching Fight Against Obesity, a social-first awareness initiative by her wellness brand Arth by Emcure. The campaign aims to change the way India talks about obesity, replacing judgement with inspiration and awareness.

The initiative will bring together leading doctors, health experts and physically fit individuals to share practical insights, bust common myths and simplify conversations around obesity, nutrition, metabolism and sustainable weight management.

Commenting on the initiative, Namita Thapar, Founder of Arth by Emcure said: “Obesity is a global challenge, and Arth is committed to this cause. I am personally interviewing top doctors of the country so we can educate and make a difference. The nice part is that the education will be through 30 sec videos, making it fun and not preachy.”

The initiative is supported by Arth’s viral product Bitter Drops, a pre-meal supplement formulated with 14 natural bitter herbs that supports weight management by helping reduce food cravings.

The campaign comes at a time when obesity is on the rise in India. According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS)6, approximately 30% women and 27% men are overweight or obese1. Beyond physical health, obesity can also affect confidence, relationships, career opportunities and overall quality of life.
