Air India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, to jointly promote India as a leading global tourism destination and strengthen the country’s position as an international aviation and transit hub.

The partnership, the first of its kind between the Ministry of Tourism and a global airline, will focus on destination marketing, trade engagement, transit tourism and enhancing the overall visitor experience. It will leverage Air India’s growing international network alongside the Ministry’s Incredible India campaign to attract more overseas travellers.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India, said, “As the airline that proudly carries India in its name, Air India has a unique responsibility to showcase the country to the world. As we expand our global network, this partnership with the Ministry of Tourism will help us shine a spotlight on a nation that is confident, vibrant, warm and welcoming.”

P. Balaji, Group Head – Governance, Risk, Compliance & Corporate Affairs, Air India, said, “This MoU reflects months of close collaboration and a shared belief that aviation and tourism can work together to strengthen India’s global profile. By combining the Government’s nation-branding efforts with Air India’s expanding international footprint, we aim to create new opportunities for global travellers to experience the richness and diversity of India.”

As part of the collaboration, the two organisations will roll out co-branded global marketing campaigns across digital platforms, social media, inflight channels and other customer touchpoints. They will also jointly participate in international roadshows, tourism exhibitions and trade engagements while working with State Tourism Boards to promote destinations across the country.

The partnership will also explore stopover tourism programmes through Air India’s hubs in Delhi and Mumbai, besides developing incentives through the airline’s Maharaja Club loyalty programme and offering travellers easier access to cultural attractions, heritage sites and tourism experiences across India.
