Arboreal Bioinnovations Private Limited, India’s specialty food and nutraceutical ingredients technology company, has raised ₹230 crore in its Series A funding round, co-led by Omnivore and EAAA Alternatives, the alternatives arm of Edelweiss. Existing investor Rainmatter by Zerodha also participated in the round.

The investment is among the largest Series A fundraises in India’s specialty food ingredients sector. Arboreal will use the capital to expand manufacturing capacity, strengthen research and development capabilities and accelerate the commercialization of next-generation functional ingredients.

The company has developed a contextual innovation model focused on creating ingredient solutions tailored to the nutritional, functional and sensory preferences of Indian consumers. Its integrated platform combines ingredient engineering, formulation science, process research and precision manufacturing.

Arboreal has commercialized proprietary ingredients across categories such as next-generation proteins, cocoa-based ingredients, natural zero-calorie sweeteners and functional fibres. Over the past 18 months, the company’s portfolio has supported more than 300 product launches across over 1,100 consumer brands and nutraceutical manufacturers.

Commenting on the development, Swati Pandey, Co-Founder and CEO of Arboreal Bioinnovations, said, “This fundraise is a strong validation of the direction we are taking as a company. It gives us the fuel to accelerate our mission of building clean, science-led solutions that address some of the world’s most pressing nutritional and food challenges, with innovation originating in India and reaching consumers globally.”

Manish Chauhan, Co-Founder and COO, said, “The confidence shown by EAAA, Omnivore and Rainmatter validates both the strength of our platform and the opportunity ahead of us. The investment will allow us to invest further in science, manufacturing, talent and long-term innovation while building differentiated ingredients for leading food and nutraceutical brands.”

Ashish Agarwal, Managing Director, Private Equity, EAAA Alternatives, said, “As the first investment from our Discovery Fund II, we are excited about the long-term growth prospects of Arboreal’s next-generation yeast protein products and look forward to supporting the company’s R&D-led growth journey.”

Jinesh Shah, Managing Partner at Omnivore, added, “The shift towards clean-label and functional foods requires ingredients that offer health benefits without compromising on taste or margins. Arboreal’s research capabilities position it strongly to support the next generation of health and wellness brands.”

Dinesh Pai, Head of Investments at Rainmatter, said, “We wanted to back Swati and Manish in building a world-class R&D team focused on food ingredients from India. Rainmatter exists to support such ambitious ideas, and Arboreal represents one of those opportunities.”
