UNSW Sydney has officially launched its Bengaluru campus, marking the Australian university’s first international campus in India. Academic operations are scheduled to begin in August 2026, opening a new chapter in the Australia–India education partnership.

Located at Manyata Business Park, the campus will offer students access to UNSW’s globally recognised academic programmes within Bengaluru’s thriving technology and innovation ecosystem. The university aims to combine Australian academic excellence with industry engagement to promote interdisciplinary learning, research and innovation.

The launch comes shortly after UNSW retained its position among the world’s top 20 universities in the 2027 QS World University Rankings. The Bengaluru campus will initially focus on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, digital technologies and sustainability.

Professor Attila Brungs, Vice-Chancellor and President of UNSW Sydney, said, “The opening of our Bengaluru campus reflects both our confidence in India’s extraordinary talent ecosystem and our long-term commitment to strengthening the Australia–India education partnership.”

“Through UNSW Bengaluru, we look forward to partnering with students, researchers, industry and government to advance world-class education, foster impactful research and co-create solutions to complex global challenges,” he added.

Commonwealth Assistant Minister for Citizenship and International Education, Julian Hill MP, said the launch marks another milestone in the growing partnership between the two countries. “This new campus in Bengaluru will create exciting opportunities for students, researchers and industry to work together, advancing knowledge and preparing the next generation of leaders.”

Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivakumar, welcomed the development, saying, “Karnataka has established itself as one of Asia’s leading hubs for technology, research and innovation, making it a natural destination for globally recognised institutions such as UNSW.”

The university said the campus will also serve as a platform for deeper collaboration between academia, government and industry across research, innovation and enterprise.
