India is facing a deepening water crisis, with nearly 600 million people experiencing high to extreme water stress and 21 major cities at risk of groundwater depletion. Against this backdrop, PlumbexIndia 2026 will spotlight the urgent need for sustainable water management and urban resilience.
Rapid urbanisation and shrinking freshwater resources have intensified the challenge, with water demand projected to exceed supply by 2030. Cities like Bengaluru exemplify this crisis—once home to over 1,000 lakes, it now has fewer than 100 functional ones, many polluted or encroached. Increasing dependence on external sources such as the Cauvery River further highlights structural inefficiencies in urban water systems.
Positioned as India’s leading exhibition for water, sanitation and plumbing, PlumbexIndia 2026 will serve as a platform for collaboration, innovation and knowledge exchange across the ecosystem. The event will feature over 200 exhibitors and 50+ startups, showcasing solutions in plumbing systems, water management technologies, sanitation infrastructure and sustainable building practices.
The exhibition will include key initiatives such as the IPA Awards of Excellence, the “Around the Drop” workshop promoting water-sensitive design, and the IPA Bathroom Challenge, encouraging innovation in sustainable plumbing practices through live competitions.
Speaking at the curtain raiser, Gurmit Singh Arora said, “Water sustainability is no longer a discretionary agenda but a non-negotiable imperative. Platforms like PlumbexIndia enable collaboration, innovation and collective action needed to secure India’s ecological and developmental future.”
A panel discussion on “Restoring the Value of Water” brought together experts from urban planning, infrastructure and sustainability, who emphasised the need for integrated approaches combining policy, technology and community participation.
With participation from policymakers, engineers, architects, developers and industry leaders, the event is expected to attract over 15,000 visitors, reflecting a broad cross-section of stakeholders shaping India’s water ecosystem.
PlumbexIndia 2026 aims to catalyse actionable solutions and foster multi-stakeholder engagement, reinforcing the importance of sustainable water governance and infrastructure to build a water-secure future for India.
