Bengaluru: The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has invited proposals from academic institutions to establish ‘Antariksh Prayogshala’ space laboratories across India. The initiative aims to boost space technology education, drive applied research and foster collaboration between academia and industry.

Up to seven institutions will be selected zone-wise, ensuring regional balance. The labs will also be accessible to non-government entities within each zone. IN-SPACe will fund up to 75% of project costs, subject to a ceiling of ₹5 crore per institution, with disbursements tied to project milestones.

Selection will take place in two stages: initial eligibility screening followed by evaluation and ranking by an Empowered Committee.

Dr. Vinod Kumar, Director of Promotion at IN-SPACe, said the programme will help transform academic learning into real-world capability, strengthening India’s talent base and innovation ecosystem.

The initiative is expected to enhance practical training, expand industry–academia partnerships and support India’s growing private space sector.

Details on eligibility, timelines and application requirements are available on the IN-SPACe website. https://www.inspace.gov.in/inspace
