Axis Bank and GoSports Foundation have signed an MoU to launch the Axis Bank-GoSports Foundation ‘The Performance Institute’ (AGTPI), an initiative focused on strengthening India’s sports science capabilities through research, analytics and capacity building.
Based at the Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru, AGTPI will focus on athlete performance, talent identification, sports science and medicine, and India-specific research. The institute will operate across three pillars—People, Analytics and Research.
The initiative will train sports science professionals through fellowships and mentorship programmes, establish athlete testing and assessment facilities, and support applied research and collaborations with universities and industry partners.
Vijay Mulbagal, Group Head – Wholesale Bank Coverage, Corporate Salary, Sustainability & CSR, Axis Bank, said, “Ensuring sustained success for Indian athletes globally will require not only talent and training but also a strong foundation of domestic sports science and medicine. We are proud to partner with GoSports Foundation to create a robust domestic sports science ecosystem.”
Nandan Kamath, Managing Trustee, GoSports Foundation, said, “Great athletes emerge from great systems, and those systems depend on people, knowledge and continuous innovation. Our goal is to build a faster, higher and stronger future for Indian sport—together.”
The partnership aims to create long-term capabilities that support athlete development and performance excellence across India.
