Vantara has announced the launch of Vantara University in Jamnagar, Gujarat, marking the establishment of the world’s first integrated global university dedicated to wildlife conservation and veterinary sciences. Envisioned as a purpose-led institution inspired by India’s ancient Gurukul system, the university aims to position India as a global hub for conservation education and research.
Founded under the vision of Anant Ambani, the university is rooted in animal welfare, scientific advancement, and real-world conservation practices. It will focus on developing future leaders in veterinary medicine, wildlife care, and ecosystem management by combining traditional knowledge systems with modern scientific approaches.
The institution will offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and specialised programmes across disciplines such as wildlife medicine, behavioural sciences, genetics, epidemiology, conservation policy, and One Health. Supported by advanced infrastructure and global collaborations, the university will integrate field expertise with academic learning to create a holistic and action-oriented education model. Scholarships and fellowships will also be introduced to support students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Anant Ambani said, “The future of conservation depends on how we prepare individuals and institutions to serve life with compassion, knowledge, and skill. Vantara University is an effort to nurture a new generation committed to protecting every living being, guided by both scientific understanding and a deep sense of responsibility.”
The foundation ceremony, rooted in Indian traditions, symbolised the country’s ecological diversity and knowledge legacy. With a strong focus on research, innovation, and conservation practice, Vantara University aims to build a long-term platform that advances wildlife health, animal care, and sustainable ecosystem management globally.
